The New Curriculum: Upgrading Teachers for its Implementation at Banmo Patthananukun Secondary School in Thailand
Thesis Abstract:
A study was conducted in Banmo Patthananukun Secondary School in Banmo, Saraburi Province, Thailand from 15 April to 31 July 1986 to orient the teachers with the principles, objectives, and structure of the New Curriculum. To achieve this, a training was conducted on how to construct instructional modules. It was attended by 70 teachers and five resource persons. It consisted of lectures, demonstrations and workshops. Modules were tested in the classrooms and an evaluation was done on the teachers' perception, attitudes, and expectations of the New Curriculum. Tools for evaluation included a questionnaire, interview schedule, and personal observation. Although the teachers had enough knowledge on the attitude toward the New Curriculum and the teaching modules, they had much difficulty in stating the objectives.
