Irrigation Capability of the Penaranda River Irrigation System and of the Sta. Cruz River Irrigation System

Thesis Abstract:

The study was conducted to determine the area that could be supplied with sufficient water (A) for a certain period within the year based on the diversion flow (Q), rainfall (R), and evaporation (E) in the service territory of the Penarada River and Sta. Cruz River irrigation systems. Calculation was done by developing a prediction equation for each system. Data obtained were used in formulating plating and water distribution schedules for each system.

The prediction equation developed for the Penarada River Irrigation System WAS a = 7845 + 0.609Q +16962R - 21607E and the Sta. Cruz River Irrigation System, A = 1551 + 0.559Q +1375R - 3641E.

Results suggest the possibility of double cropping in the entire service areas of the two systems if farm activities and water distribution would be carefully programmed, with the cooperation of the farmers concerned
