The Effect of Tree Pruning and Seed Position in Fruit to Enhance Seed Quality and Production of Papaya (Carica papaya L.)
Thesis Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study the effect of pruning and seed position on papaya seed quality and to study the effect of fruit location in different branches on papaya seed production and quality. The research consisted of two experiments using papaya seeds (IPB-2) harvested from the Center for Tropical FruitsStudies orchard in Bogor. The first experiment was arranged factorial random group two factors with four replications while the second experiment was arranged single factor group with three replications. Results showed that the single branch had high seed production, and seeds from primary branches had high vigor and high nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium content.
