SAN FERNANDO CITY, Philippines — The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), commissioned by the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), successfully conducted the Business Talk for Clients: Financial Management, held on 27–30 August 2019 at The Orchid Gardens Hotel in this city. LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – SEARCA and the Food Security Center (FSC) of the University of Hohenheim in Germany will conduct the 2019 FSC Summer School on 9–27 September 2019. The theme for this year's summer school is "Transformative Changes in Agriculture and Food Systems" which aims to explore advances in technology and the contribution of food and agriculture systems innovation to realize SDG 2: Zero Hunger. The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) has partnered with the Rotary Club of Bay RID3820 and the municipal government of Bay, Laguna in their Sustainable Gardening Project dubbed “Hatid ng Gulay, Makulay na Buhay,” which was launched on 31 August 2019. 'Spread the gospel of biotech' — these were the words of Engr. Alson Quimba, Provincial Agriculturist of the Province of Bukidnon, Philippines to more than 150 farmers, local government officers, and members of the academe and consumer groups during the Biotech 101 and Joint Department Circular Public (JDC) Public Briefing held in the province on August 16, 2019. CORON, Palawan – School plus home gardens would significantly benefit Busuanga Island, Palawan. LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – SEARCA organized the Orientation for New and Continuing Scholars on 18 August 2019 at Drilon Hall, SEARCA headquarters. 60 students taking their masters and doctoral degrees in UPLB attended the event. This orientation is regularly held to acquaint the students about SEARCA and their responsibilities as scholars of the institution. This is also an avenue for them to meet their fellow scholars.
