SAN FERNANDO CITY, Philippines — The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), commissioned by the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), successfully conducted the Business Talk for Clients: Financial Management, held on 27–30 August 2019 at The Orchid Gardens Hotel in this city.
The said training was attended by 40 participants, composed of chairmen, managers and bookkeepers under the project, Building Capacity and Strengthening Partnership for Carabao Development Program.
The three-day event was a continuation of the first two Business Talk Workshops which aim to increase the knowledge of “cooprenuers” (cooperative entrepreneurs) on Business Literacy. The business talk on financial management aimed to bridge the gap in knowledge among cooprenuers that encountered losses due to lack of efficient financial monitoring and system. Specifically, the cooprenuers, together with PCC Carabao-based Enterprise Development (CBED) coordinators, learned how to interpret financial statements and apply it in their respective enterprises; understand performance metrics; and, read and use accounting reports.
Prof. Jimmy B. Williams, Adjunct Professor and Financial Management Expert, served as the resource person and facilitated the learning event through a combination of lecture discussion, experience sharing, exercises / workshops and presentation of outputs. He was joined by PCC Officials, Dr. Arnel B. del Barrio, Executive Director; Dr. Caro B. Salces, Deputy Director; and Dr. Liza G. Battad, Chief, Planning and Information Management Division. The SEARCA Team composed of Ms. Imelda L. Batangantang, OIC and Program Specialist; Ms. Sarah Grace L. Quiñones, Project Coordinator, Ms. Maylyn G. Desamparo, Project Associate and Mr. Ronald P. Salazar, Project Assiatant, all from the Project Development and Technical Services (PDTS) were present in the said activity.
