LAGUNA, Philippines – A groundbreaking three-day training titled Quality Assurance for Livestock Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Measurement was concluded on 6 February 2025, marking a significant step forward in enhancing GHG monitoring for sustainable livestock management in Southeast Asia. Hosted at the University of the Philippines Los Baños-Dairy Training and Research Institute (UPLB-DTRI) by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), the training brought together 17 participants from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and the US, fostering regional collaboration on livestock GHG management. In an enriching cultural and academic exchange, 19 Taiwanese and Filipino Project LAKBAY (Learning Actively through Knowledge-Based Appreciation for Youth) fellows, together with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) and the Edu-Connect Southeast Asian Association officials and staff, visited the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) on 6 February 2025. CALAMBA, Philippines—The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) held a training on basic gardening techniques and maintaining an edible garden for 13 staff members of Bahay ni Maria, a home for abandoned elderly persons and children with special needs in Calamba, Laguna, on 30 January 2025. LAGUNA, Philippines – The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) has joined with the Department of Education (DepEd)-Calauan Sub-office and the Local Government Unit of Calauan, Laguna to launch the Project OSEL, or "Oplan School Edible Landscaping." This initiative aims to strengthen the schools in Calauan by promoting sustainable practices such as establishing edible gardens. The third run of the ASEAN Climate Leadership Programme (ACLP III) officially started through its opening session and first module lectures held virtually from 22 to 23 January 2025. The 29 official participants representing Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam were selected out of over a hundred applicants across the ASEAN Member States. Seventeen Agroentrepreneurship National Certificate II students and three BB Agriventures OPC Farm School trainers visited the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) on 21 January 2025. They were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Joselito Florendo, SEARCA Deputy Director for Administration.
