Faculty and Student Mobility Grant

The SEARCA Faculty and Student Mobility Grant enables grantees to conduct their research work or take courses for credit in any University Consortium member university, other prominent agricultural university or research institution, be exposed to new technologies, and receive training from world-class academicians/researchers.

Eligibility

Faculty Mobility Grant

  • Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries (namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam) who are regular employees of academic institutions; and
  • Must not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application

Student Mobility Grant

  • Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries (namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam) enrolled in MS or PhD programs in Southeast Asian universities; and
  • Must not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application

Research or areas of specialization

Applicant's research or areas of specialization must be related to SEARCA’s overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN). These include the following priority areas:

  • Agri-Business Models for Increased Productivity and Income
  • Sustainable Farming Systems and Natural Resource Management
  • Food and Nutrition Security
  • Transformational Leadership for Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)
  • Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD
  • Enhanced ARD towards Climate Resilience
  • EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD

Scholarship Benefits

One roundtrip airfare to selected host university with stipend for food, lodging, and incidental expenses, among others up to maximum of USD3,500.00.

Application Requirements

  1. Duly accomplished Application Form
  2. Proposed activities and budgetary requirement
  3. A letter of confirmation from the host university/institution to supervise the grantee
  4. Certification or proof of financial support from other sources, if any, and
  5. For Student Mobility Applicants: endorsement from thesis adviser/supervisor; or for Faculty Mobility Applicants: endorsement from the Dean of the College/Faculty for lecturers/faculty members

Conditions and Requirements for Disbursement of Grant

  • The grantee may be supported for a minimum of one week and a maximum of one semester.
  • For long-term grantees, a first tranche of 70% will be released upon submission of the signed conforme of the notice of award; the remaining 30% will be released upon submission of termina report and valid receipts as proof of purchase related to the mobility.
  • At the end of the grant period, the faculty/student must submit to SEARCA a report on the research or activity that they conducted at the host university/institution not later than one week after arrival at the home university/institution.
