The Regional Consultation Workshop for the Umbrella Program on Food Security for Southeast Asia was held on 25–26 July 2013 at the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines. Seventeen participants representing nine Southeast Asian countries from various organizations and institutions, such as governments, agricultural and state universities, and research centers participated in the two-day event. The workshop was organized by SEARCA, conducted in cooperation with the Southeast Asia University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (University Consortium or UC) and the Food Security Center (FSC) of the University of Hohenheim in Germany. The workshop aimed to develop a regional collaborative program on food security among UC members and other universities and research institutions in the region, and consisted of three main sessions: 1. Discussion towards a focused and integrated food security conceptual framework for the Southeast Asian region; 2.
