Bridging and Upgrading the Mechanisms and Pathways for the Uptake of Biotech
The Bridging and Upgrading the Mechanisms and Pathways for the Uptake of Biotech (BUMP UP Biotech) Project aims to identify pathways for the uptake of biotech innovations for food and nutrition security.
It will improve the existing platforms for collaboration among academe, industry, and government actors for sharing research information, technology and policy with local governments and local media to develop the enabling environment and information exchange towards an enhanced ecosystem that will cater to the uptake of biotech.
Specifically, this project will:
- Capacitate provincial government units by providing enabling mechanisms to harness up-to-date technology and information
- Capitalize on knowledge gathered from the academe, industry, and government to support uptake of biotech innovations
- Communicate biotechnology through local media/community radio
It is expected that this project will provide in target areas an innovative approach to the institutionalization of on-the-ground initiatives that is capable and empowered to contribute to fostering an enabling environment for biotechnology uptake. This will also open up further collaboration with universities, research institutions, and other organizations to realize the goal of maximizing the potential of biotechnology to agricultural stakeholders such as the country’s farmers and farming families.
