SEARCA, ASEAN renew ties with agri biodiversity

Los Baños, Laguna—The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity have agreed to continue cooperating on programs that will mainstream biodiversity in agriculture. In a memorandum of understanding signed on November 4, 2019, the two international organizations agree to carry on their collaboration to pursue their common objective of building capacities of the ASEAN Member States in biodiversity conservation as it relates to agriculture and food. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research and Agriculture (SEARCA) recently hosted a session on the regional implications of the Philippines' Rice Tariffication Law. The Research Symposium was part of the 11th World Rice Conference organized by The Rice Trader (TRT). Horticulture experts from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) discussed the status and prospects of the calamansi industry in Oriental Mindoro, the largest producer of calamansi in the country at a seminar convened by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) last February 12.
