Newly installed Ambassador of Australia Amanda Gorely commended the Philippine government-hosted Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) based in the university of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) on her visit to the center last Jan. 21. She commended SEARCA headed by Gil Saguiguit Jr. who is now on his third three-year term, for its research and capacity building programs in the Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia and expressed her support to SEARCA as it renews its partnerships with Australian research and education institutions.

She noted the Center’s plan to establish the Southeast Asian Agri Museum and Learning Center, which is intended to promote the importance of agriculture, it’s centrality in people’s lives and its attendant challenges, particularly among the youth.
