After a three-day intensive planning workshop, the teams of SEARCA and Yezin Agricultural University (YAU) came up with the strategic directions of Myanmar's only agricultural university for the coming years. A coherent plan was the critical element that YAU needed in the face of the new developments in Myanmar and the many opportunities that are now knocking on the university door. Officials of the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in Cambodia began to rethink the future of the university in a "Mentoring Workshop on Strategic Planning" on 20-22 August 2012 at SEARCA. SEARCA recently awarded a full MS scholarship and four Academic Bridging Program scholarships to young faculty members of the Savannakhet University (SKU) in Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR to study at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) starting second semester of school year 2011/2011. The scholarships are part of the capacity-building component of the SKU Institutional Development Assistance (SKU-IDA) project implemented by SEARCA in collaboration with UPLB and SKU.
