The lady lawmaker also informed Dr. Saguiguit of another bill she is drafting to institutionalize school gardens and urban agriculture across the country. She stressed that such legislation will increase not only the income from agriculture, but also to the consciousness about the importance of agriculture.
Senator Villar also underscored the need to make the agriculture curriculum more practical, focusing on what farmers really need to know, which may not necessarily be very complex technical courses.
Before the dialogue with SEARCA officials, Senator Villar gave the keynote address at the "1st International Small & Family Farmers: New & Beginning Farmers Conference" organized by MoCA Family Farm held on 20-21 March 2017 at SEARCA.
