SEARCA, TUAF sign memorandum of understanding for institutional cooperation

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for institutional cooperation during the opening ceremony of the 64th SEARCA Governing Board Meeting (GBM) held on 26 – 28 October 2016 at Dusit Thani, Makati City, Philippines.

Under the MOU, SEARCA and TUAF committed to collaborate on a number of activities including joint research, capacity building activities, and knowledge and information exchange.

The five-year accord is also expected to facilitate the Institutional Development Assistance (IDA) of SEARCA at TUAF. Through the IDA, SEARCA aims to develop the university into a major academic partner of the government of Vietnam in promoting agricultural and rural development.

Signatories of the agreement were Dr. Gil C. Saguiguit, Jr., SEARCA Director, and Dr. Tran Van Dien, Rector of TUAF and Country Representative of Vietnam to the SEARCA Governing Board.

Dr. Tinsiri Siribodhi, Deputy Director for Administration and Communication of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMES), and Dr. Maria Cristeta N. Cuaresma, Program Head of SEARCA's Graduate Education and Institutional Development Department (GEIDD), served as witnesses to signing of the MOU.
