BALI, Indonesia – Ms. May Soe Oo and Mr. Sem Savuth, both SEARCA scholars, participated in the 7th International Conference on Integration of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development 2018 (ICIST2018) held on 26-29 November 2018 at The Patra Bali Resort and Villas, here. The conference with the theme, "Water conservation, Biological Diversity, Food Safety and Agriculture," was organized to initiate an international network among academic members, researchers, scientists, and others interested in science and technology. It provided a venue for knowledge exchange and discussion for students and academicians seeking new vision and insight among related topics.
Ms. May Soe Oo of Myanmar bagged the Best Oral Presentation award for her paper titled "The Energy Footprints of Inbred and Hybrid Rice Genotypes Grown under Organic and Conventional Production System in Laguna, Philippines." Likewise, Mr. Sem Savuth of Cambodia was awarded in another session the Best Oral Presentation for his paper "Comparative Energy Footprint of Cambodian Lowland Rice Grown under Different Establishment Methods". Both scholars were under the supervision of Dr. Teodoro Mendoza of the College of Agriculture, UP Los Baños. (Mary Grace A. Aquino)
