This training is a component of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded project titled, TA-8111 PHI: Climate Resilience and Green Growth in the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape: Demonstrating the Eco-town Framework. The Climate Change Commission (CCC) serves as its implementing agency, while the Technical Assistance is supervised by Dr. Ancha Srinivasan, Principal Climate Change Specialist of ADB Southeast Asia Department.
Dr. Esteban Godillano, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist, and Mr. Allan Dela Cruz, Project GIS Assistant, provided lectures on GIS Remote Sensing, Earth Surfaces, Global Positioning System (GPS), and Cartographic Modelling. The training also employed problem solving, simulation, and group exercises. A field trip to the resettlement sites in Brgy. Pinugay, Brgy. Baras and Antipolo City was also conducted to demonstrate the integration of GPS in geospatial application.
Ms. Maria Lovella Segayo, CCC Development Management Officer IV, gave an overview of the ecotown framework espoused by the Commission. Mr. Alexis Lapiz, CCC Program Manager, Dr. Emmanuel Lleva, Natural Resource Management (NRM) Specialist of ERGONS, and Dr. Lope B. Santos III, SEARCA Program Specialist and Officer-In-Charge for Project Development and Management were also present during the training. Ms. Jade Ayanna Fernandez, Research Assistant, Ms. Hilda Ronquillo, Administrative Assistant, and Mr. Marvin Pascual of Ergons provided technical, administrative and documentation support.
