The training course was conducted to provide research personnel of various academic and research institutions the capability of conducting financial viability and profitability analysis of new technologies and enterprises. The major topics covered were cost and return analysis, partial budget analysis, break-even analysis, and financial cash flow analysis.
A total of 18 participants composed of the DA-BAR technical staff, chairman/manager of organizations, local government unit staff, and personnel from state universities and colleges involved in 12 selected projects funded by DA-BAR and are familiar with the financial aspect of their respective projects attended the training. The following are the projects:
- A Study in the Production and Commercialization of Coconut Sap Sugar
- Adoption and Utilization of Nipa Palm Sugar Processing Technology
- Commercialization and Promotion of Processing Potato Varieties Thru Rapid Multiplication Technique in Potato Growing Areas
- Development of Emerging Products, By-Products and Technologies from Philippine Carabao Mango
- Development of Mangifera Liqueur Towards Commercialization
- Enhancing Competitiveness of Queen Pineapple in the Bicol Region
- Enhancing Soybean Production and Processing Technology Utilization in Support to Development of Existing and Expansion Areas of Region 2
- Packaging/Labeling Improvement and IPR-Registration in Support to Promotion and Commercialization of Vegetable and Protein-based Gourmix Product in Region 2
- Production and Processing of Premium Quality Coffee Liqueur and Packaging Development for the Niche High-End Market
- Sapinit (Rubus rosifolius) Production and Utilization Project Phase I
- Technology Commercialization of Cashew-based Production/Agri-based Enterprise Development Project
- Utilization of Batuan [Garcinia binucao (Blanco) Choisy] into Value Added Products
The Project Team is composed of Dr. Corazon T. Aragon, Project Leader, and Dr. Cesar B. Quicoy, Financial Viability Expert, who served as the lead lecturers during the training. Other members of the Project Team are Mr. Bates M. Bathan, Training Facilitator, and Dr. Antonio Jesus A. Quilloy, Training Manual Designer, who served as facilitators.
The activity was spearheaded by the SEARCA Project Development and Technical Services (PDTS) led by Dr. Lope B. Santos III, Program Specialist and Officer-in-Charge; Ms. Nancy M. Landicho, Program Specialist; and Ms. Imelda L. Batangantang, Program Associate. Ms. Maribel B. Almanza, Project Coordinator, and Mr. Jerrel Edric B.
