The collaborative research grants approach, which is a first in Southeast Asia, aims to strengthen collaborative research capacity of young researchers and scientists in the field of climate change adaptation and mitigation (CChAM) as it relates to agriculture and rural development in the region. The focal theme of the collaborative research grants is based on the Umbrella Program on CChAM for Southeast Asia. In particular, the priority thematic areas of the grant are as follows: (1) assessing climate change impacts and risks for policy, plans and investments; (2) advancing low-carbon agriculture and rural development; (3) enhancing pro-active adaptation to climate change, variability and extremes; and (4) enabling policies and governance for climate-resilient agriculture and rural communities.
Eligible scientists who express interest to participate in the research grant will be invited to join an online social media environment where they can find and get to know suitable collaborators, create research teams with three to five members, and prepare joint proposals for submission to IFS. Interested researchers may access more details about the grant, eligibility criteria, and the EOI form through the IFS Website. The deadline for expression of interest is on 31 January 2016.
