The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) will conduct its first online Training-Workshop on National Roadmap Development for the initial batch of participants as part of the national technical assistance component on road mapping under the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-funded Project Agricultural Transformation and Market Integration in the ASEAN Region: Responding to Food Security and Inclusiveness Concerns, or ATMI-ASEAN, on 7-9 April 2021.

The three-day training-workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Roehlano M. Briones, a Senior Research Fellow of Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) and the Lead Technical Consultant of the national road mapping exercise, and will cover the following areas (1) overview of the roadmap development, (2) overview of the results-based management and (3) overview of the strategy formulation.

The exercise aims to produce national roadmaps that are intended to set strategies, programs, and specific activities aimed at achieving targets and objectives shared by the stakeholders in the various segments of the value chains. Through this training-workshop, the discussions and materials will be developed into a document stating the national roadmap for the relevant value chain.

The selected participants are national experts from the project’s five (5) target ASEAN Member States (AMS) who will coordinate and support the process of national roadmap development for the identified priority value chains. The first batch will include the identified experts and members of the road mapping teams of Myanmar and the Philippines while, the remaining three (3) teams, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao PDR will participate in the second batch.

The ATMI-ASEAN Project is being implemented by IFPRI as lead, and SEARCA as a partner.
