66 Bulacan ARBO staff undergo SEARCA and DAR sponsored Training on Integrated Production Management System

The participants of the Training on Integrated Production Management System, Rice Production Part held on 27–28 February 2014 at the Malolos Resort Club Royale, Malolos, Bulacan.

BULACAN, Philippines - SEARCA and DAR Region III organized and facilitated two batches of training courses on Integrated Production Management System for Rice and Vegetables from 27 February to 1 March 2014 at the Malolos Resort Club Royale, Bulacan, Philippines. The activity is part of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-funded project entitled, Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS). Major topics covered include overview of rice and vegetable production; rice and vegetable propagation techniques; rice and vegetable growing methods; types of fertilizers; managing farm pests; organic farming and; farm mechanization.

A total of 66 participants from the eight Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Bulacan attended the training. Mr. Pete Santos, DAR Senior Agrarian Reform Program Officer - Provincial Office, was also present during the event. Mr. Ernesto B. Cayaban Jr., Researcher from the Crops Science Cluster of the UPLB College of Agriculture, and Ms. Juanita G. Calibo, Researcher from the Bureau of Plant Industry based in Los Baños, Laguna, served as lead resource persons.

Dr. Jose Nestor M. Garcia, Crops Specialist, Dr. Merlyne M. Paunlagui, Training and Coaching Specialist; and Dr. Cesar B. Quicoy, Farm Production Management Specialist, provided technical inputs in the training. (Maribel Almanza)
